What do the official public transport fares say for bus, student, 5, early in Australia?
Public transport fares in Australia, from Transport for NSW. This source is answered live, so the page shows how to ask, not a number.
Posted prices, as published by the official source. They are not individual receipts.
ProofPrice reads Transport for NSW when you ask, so the answer is always the latest published. It comes with its period, its source and its licence; a range built from records is given only when at least 5 records sit behind it.
Ask for it: /api/v1/transport-fares?country=AU&mode=bus&fare_type=student&distance_km=5&travel_time=early
Where this comes from
- Source
- Opal card fare values by mode and distance band, Transport for NSW, published by Transport for NSW, published on the TfNSW Open Data Hub
- Licence
- Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY)
- Attribution
- Contains information from the Opal Fares dataset (Opal Fare Values) by Transport for NSW, accessed from the TfNSW Open Data Hub (https://opendata.transport.nsw.gov.au/data/dataset/opal-fares) and licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY). ProofPrice looks up the distance band; this is not an official service of Transport for NSW.
- How fresh the source is
- Updated when fares change (yearly, around 1 July); the table read 3 Nov 2026 carried the fares effective from 29 June 2026
- Limits
- Opal card fare per trip from the published table, not amounts paid, not a ticket and not a quote. Daily and weekly caps, the Sunday cap, Station Access Fees, inter-modal transfer reductions, the frequency-of-use discount, contactless-only rules and tourist or single-trip tickets are not modelled. Regional NSW bus fares and Sydney Trains rail distances between particular stations are not included: give the trip distance. No sample size.
- Rule
- A figure built from records is shown only when at least 5 records sit behind it; official statistics are shown as such, with their reference period. See how we earn trust and the method.
