How fresh the source is
AEMO publishes one price file per trading day (04:00 to 04:00 NEM time) early the next morning; ProofPrice reads the files of the last days on each request (cached up to 30 minutes)
Limits
Wholesale spot prices per NEM region (NSW incl. ACT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC), not what households or businesses pay on bills: retail tariffs add network charges, environmental costs and retailer margin. Western Australia and the Northern Territory are not in the NEM and are not covered. Prices are in Australian dollars per MWh and can be negative. The record count is five-minute intervals, not separate trades. Times are NEM time (UTC+10).
Rule
A figure built from records is shown only when at least 5 records sit behind it; official statistics are shown as such, with their reference period. See how we earn trust and the method.
