What do the official wholesale electricity prices say for 3 in Germany?
Wholesale electricity prices in Germany, from Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de. This source is answered live, so the page shows how to ask, not a number.
Prices recorded in official records of completed sales. Asking prices are never used.
ProofPrice reads Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de when you ask, so the answer is always the latest published. It comes with its period, its source and its licence; a range built from records is given only when at least 5 records sit behind it.

Where this comes from
- Source
- SMARD market data: day-ahead wholesale electricity price, Germany/Luxembourg, published by Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de
- Licence
- CC BY 4.0 (SMARD data use page: data may be used freely with the credit "Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de")
- Attribution
- Source: Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de. Licensed under CC BY 4.0. Medians, ranges and counts are own calculations by ProofPrice from the hourly prices.
- How fresh the source is
- Hourly prices, published the day before delivery (around 13:00 Central European Time); ProofPrice reads them on each request (cached up to 30 minutes)
- Limits
- Wholesale exchange prices, not retail: a household or business bill adds grid fees, taxes, levies and supplier margin. One price per hour for the whole Germany/Luxembourg zone (no region or town). Prices can be negative when there is more supply than demand. Day-ahead only; intraday and futures markets are not included. The record count is hours, not separate trades.
- Rule
- A figure built from records is shown only when at least 5 records sit behind it; official statistics are shown as such, with their reference period. See how we earn trust and the method.
