How fresh the source is
Weekly: one national figure each week, usually available the same week
Limits
One average for the whole United Kingdom per week, not the price at a station, town or postcode: an area or postcode in a request is answered with the national figure and says so. Only unleaded petrol (ULSP, asked for as petrol95) and diesel (ULSD, diesel) are published; premium petrol, E10 as a separate grade, LPG and electric charging are not. DESNZ gives no range and no number of stations. In the history tool, sample_size is a placeholder (5), not a count of stations.
Rule
A figure built from records is shown only when at least 5 records sit behind it; official statistics are shown as such, with their reference period. See how we earn trust and the method.
