What do the official childcare prices say for Norway in Norway?
Childcare prices in Norway, from Statistics Norway. This source is answered live, so the page shows how to ask, not a number.
An official average or median published by a statistics office or regulator, not individual sales.
ProofPrice reads Statistics Norway when you ask, so the answer is always the latest published. It comes with its period, its source and its licence; a range built from records is given only when at least 5 records sit behind it.
Ask for it: /api/v1/childcare?country=NO
Where this comes from
- Source
- Average kindergarten fees by municipality (Statistics Norway, table 11573), published by Statistics Norway (SSB), from the KOSTRA municipal reporting
- Licence
- Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), Statistics Norway
- Attribution
- Source: Statistics Norway (SSB), table 11573, Average kindergarten fees. Licensed under CC BY 4.0.
- How fresh the source is
- Annual (January figures); the 2026 figures were published on 30 April 2026
- Limits
- A municipal average per child, not a price list: no range and no sample size. Free places (for example from the 2026 price cap and income-based exemptions) pull the average down, so it is lower than the fee a parent without a discount pays. January only. Municipalities that merged or split have blank years.
- Rule
- A figure built from records is shown only when at least 5 records sit behind it; official statistics are shown as such, with their reference period. See how we earn trust and the method.
